The King's School Gloucester Photographic History By David Evans
At Speech Day in 1926 Headmaster Francis Gillesby spoke of three key strengths of The King's School in Gloucester that have endured well beyond his own day: it's spritual atmosphere, it's historic atmosphere and it's atmosphere of sound learning.
Eighty years on, whilst King's is a flourishing HMC co-educational school with over five hundred pupils, it still reflects the same key strengths. This book emphasises the school's continuity over many generations, underlining the debt owed by today's school to those who have gone before.
David Evans wrote and compiled this book during his sabbatical year. The book is a photographic record of the twentieth century, drawing on the collection of photographs assembled in the School Museum. It contains 453 black and white photographs from the earliest years of the last century to the present day.
