Choral Bursary

The Cathedral and King’s School have a Choral Bursary from the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys (RMTGB).  It was discovered recently that there was no specific identifying medallion for the chorister in receipt of this bursary.

A discussion was initiated between Via Lucis Lodge, the Dean and Chapter and Toye Kenning and Spencer (a company of medal and regalia makers) to produce an appropriate design for one. This being achieved, Via Lucis Lodge, which is associated with the School and Cathedral, commissioned the company to make the medallion which was presented to the Dean by the Master of Via Lucis Lodge, Worshipful Bro. Jim Thompson, at Evensong in September 2009. In addition to members of the lodge, also present were the local representative of the RMTGB, Peter Marsh, and Fiona Toye and Christine Cushing (head of design) from the company. The present recipient of the bursary is Adam Heron who was invested with the medallion on that occasion.
