Harry Potter

Over the past eight years the school has played host to the biggest-selling series of children's films of modern times, Harry Potter. In 2000, filming for the first film in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' was carried out in the Cathedral Cloisters, with many pupils from the school becoming extras for the film.

Since the success of the first film Warner Brothers returned to produce the second film in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' and more recently, the sixth film in the franchise: ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’. Over 200 of our pupils, ranging from Year Six through to the Sixth Form, were cast as extras in the latest film and can even be seen in the trailer for the film, which came out in July.

"The King's School pupils were the best group of extras we have worked with, polite but not arrogant, intelligent and incredibly nice"
