Mrs Southgate and the Reception children would like to send a warm welcome to you.
Reception class is located in Wardle House, an historic building situated within the Cathedral Close. Here our very youngest children are cared for by a well-qualified and enthusiastic team of staff in a safe and secure environment dedicated to the Early Years. We have a structured curriculum which includes drama, music, dance and PE with access to the facilities and specialist staff of the whole King's School. We also have computer time, dedicated art and craft facilities and an all-weather adventure play area.
The transition from the Foundation Years at Wardle House to Key Stage 1 and 2 is smooth, setting the right tone for a productive life in Junior School. Our success is founded on building each individual's confidence and self-esteem through participation, performance and play alongside the pursuit of excellence in the classroom.
During the term, Reception will be involved in many activities including our first big Junior School Harvest Festival in St John's Church where we will be dressing up and singing 'One Man went to Mow'!
In December we will be busy with our Christmas Nativity Play in the Cathedral and we welcome all parents, family and friends to join us for this very special event.
Alongside the many Performance Opportunities, children will enjoy field/education trips, Sports Day, Optional After Care facilities, excellent pupil/staff ratio and a healthy lunch cooked on site each day.
I look forward to seeing you during the year and at some of the many events that we have.
