Upper Shell (Year 6)

UPPER SHELL

Welcome to Upper Shell. We are Mr Williams and Mrs Wyman

As the oldest year group in Junior School, a great deal is expected of pupils and we have no doubt that they will make great leaders and role models for the younger children in all that they do.

In Upper Shell there are plenty of opportunities for pupils to excel. As pupils prepare for Senior School they will have plenty of practice at presenting, reading at events in the cathedral, whilst becoming more independent in their learning and responsibilities. Active teaching in small groups allows pupils to prepare for Senior School and build on the confidence that has already been instilled during their time at King’s.

As you would expect we have a very busy and full timetable. Lessons are designed to be interesting, engaging and challenging. Average class size is fifteen and set sizes become progressively smaller. In addition to the core subjects we also enjoy weekly lessons in; French, P.E, Games, Art, Dance and Drama, Study Skills and D.T. Upper Shell is heavily involved in all sports fixtures, concerts and drama. Pupils will also use the Science Labs to carry out experiments and to join both Maths and History quizzes.

Throughout the year we will visit the Edward Jenner Museum, tour the Cathedral including the tower and have many activity days.

So come along and see for yourself all the things we do!
