Dornakal Schools's Partnership

We are delighted to tell you that Kiran Devamani, the Bishop of Dornakal’s daughter arrived recently to spend some months at the King’s School as part of the partnership we have with Dornakal School in India and the wider partnership between the Gloucester and Dornakal dioceses. She will be assisting at the school in a variety of ways, both in the Junior School and the Senior School.

Josh Carter, who was in last Year’s Upper 6th, went to Dornakal to assist at the schools there in a similar way. He will be teaching some English and assisting in games and activities in the hostels.

Miss Gibbs, Sean Govan (L6) and Mrs Fayter visited the Dornakal School as part of a DFID reciprocal visit from the 14th October for 10 days. They participated in school life and exploring ways of working together as schools in a practical as well as community- focussed way. It is fantastic that a King’s student was able to go on the trip as he will be able to bring life at King’s as a reality to the Dornakal students and also bring back his experiences to benefit King’s students.

In November we are hoping that Mr Jayakumar, Miss Renuka and Prasanna Jalli, a Dornakal student, will return the visit.
