We are continuing to use the dispensing of hand sanitiser upon entry to the dining hall. This has been proven to be an effective way of reducing the spread of colds, flu and other infections and is now common practice in many public eating places, particularly cruise ships and holiday camps, as well as hospital wards.
The gel we are using is alcohol-based, and any staff and pupils whose skin is sensitive to such products are advised to wash their hands in the normal way instead, before eating.
We have also included more frequent cleansing of hard surfaces such as computer keyboards and door handles in the school cleaning schedule.
