ICT

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a vital part in education in the 21st Century because it is an important medium for learning and study in all subjects at all educational levels.

At King's we aim to ensure that pupils:

  • Learn different ICT skills and use a wide range of programs
  • Apply the ICT skills they have acquired to their academic work
  • Provide opportunities to use ICT in a variety of different contexts
  • Have the opportunity to gain a formal ICT qualification

ICT is taught in First, Second and Third Form and concentrates on the main applications of Microsoft Office.  Touch typing skills are developed and assessed.

GCSE ICT Short Course is offered in the 4th and 5th Form. Students in the Sixth Form have the opportunity to take A level ICT.

We have a school-wide RM network of over 200 workstations with Windows XP, Office 2007 Professional and a wide range of subject-specific software. There are four dedicated ICT Suites and a growing number of departmental ICT areas throughout the school.  Many classrooms have interactive whiteboards.  Pupils are also able to access their school e-mail account from home.
