Yorkshire Three Peaks 2009

On the weekend of 10th - 11th October 2009 a group of five boys accompanied by Mr Joyce, the Headmaster and supported by Mr Roberts headed to Yorkshire to tackle the famous ‘Three Peaks of Yorkshire Challenge’. This involves climbing the three highest mountains in Yorkshire, Pen-y -ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough as well as tackling numerous bogs and covering the 24.5 miles all within a twelve hour time frame. After a tasty meal of rabbit stew in Ingleton on Saturday evening we were up at 5:10am on Sunday. The group walked strongly in mixed weather conditions and successfully completed the challenge recording an impressive time of ten hours and twenty eight minutes. This is a very commendable achievement for a relatively young group and all should be proud that they are now official members of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club. In completing the challenge, sponsorship money was also raised to support our link school in Dornakal, India.
