The new Commanding Officer of HMS Gloucester, D M George of the Royal Navy and Lt Commander (Marine Engineering Officer) David Moy visited with the Headmaster of The King’s School. Pupils from the Sixth Form, Clare Powers and Max Woodall, gave them a tour of the school, which included dropping in on several classes that were taking place, before joining staff and pupils for lunch in the dining hall. HMS Gloucester is currently conducting a period of regeneration following deployment to the South Atlantic in 2009. Headmaster, Alistair Macnaughton, said “We at King’s are immensely proud of our connection with HMS Gloucester and look forward to following the travels of the ship when it begins its next deployment in August. In the meantime we hope to be able to visit the ship at some point in June.”
