Pro 40 At Archdeacon!!!!

The County played T20 against Sussex Sharks and Kent Spitfires at Archdeacon. However the King’s School 1st X1 played Pro 40 on the Saturday against local rivals Dean Close.

King’s won the toss and opted to bat amassing a huge total of 316-5 of their 40 overs with captain Steve Kelly scoring 126 and fellow opening George Ayland 85 with a superb opening partnership of 244.

Sam Carter (40 not out), Bertie Wyatt 17 and Ed Lifely 20 not out all contributed to the score.

Dean Close lost an early wicket through the pace bowling of Tom Justice (fifth photo) and Bertie Wyatt (bottom photo) bowled with pace and aggression.

However, Dean Close then settled and Liam Brignull looked like he was going to be a huge threat but eventually cut a delivery of Justice to Ayland at backward point who made light work of the catch.

Simon Slabbert batted throughout the rest of the innings scoring a fantastic 116 but could not reach the total required.

Dean Close ended up 289-6 and therefore King’s Gloucester won the game. With over 600 runs scored in the day both sides could feel they had made the most of what had been described as a ‘very good’ wicket the day before in the T20 match.
