Rounders Report

Senior Rounders

This year the seniors played 4 matches winning all 4 comfortably. The standard of play has remained excellent with high standards of skill shown by every player that participated.

U15 Rounders Played 6 Won 6 Lost 0

The Under 15's have been in excellent form this year and have had a very successful season. They have had a formidable triangle of Sophie, Amber and Annia who have seen the demise of many batters. Fielding has been outstanding at times but Rosie Wharton and Kate Allen deserve particular mention. The girls thoroughly deserved their unbeaten season with outstanding results against Ribston, Balcarras, St. Peter's and Rendcomb. Much to the disappointment of the girls the District tournament was cancelled as they certainly looked to be the team to beat! An excellent team effort this season - well done girls!

U14 Rounders Played 8 Won 4 Lost 4

The U14 team made a great start to the season winning their first two matches which were both very competitive and close matches against St Edwards and Wycliffe College. The standard of fielding was particularly good with some very good catches and fielding decisions made by individuals. This was followed by 3 losses, 2 of which were only by ½ of a rounder which was extremely disappointing for the team, although they can be proud of their performances in each game. The best result of the season was the 19 - 15 ½ win against a strong Rendcomb College team, where some inspired batting enabled the school to win in a very tight match. Finally, congratulations to everyone who played this season and their 2nd place in the District Tournament.

U13 Rounders Played 9 Won 4 Lost 4 Drawn 1

The U13's have had a very good season with all players developing their game as the term has progressed. Many players have shown true versatility in the field and in the last few matches batting performances were becoming more consistent. Polly Smart has been outstanding on 1st post as well as being a reliable bowler and Izzy Lachecki has been the teams ‘big hitter' accumulating in excess of 18 ½ rounders this term. Noteable performances came in the two tournaments the girls have played in, finishing a commendable 3rd in the Severnside tournament and worthy runners up in the district tournament. Noteable wins were against St. Peters - 27 ½ - 8 ½ ; Barnwood - 39 - 10 and Rendcomb - 15 - 4 ½

Most Improved Player: Georgina Stanley

U12 Rounders Played 9 Won 6 Lost 3

At the beginning of the season the U12's Rounders squad was formed with the majority of players entering into a sport of the unknown. The young side, captained by Annie Dancey, had to adapt quickly to their new positions in which they gained working knowledge of the game. The U12's have gone from strength to strength and are a long way from the nervous side which faced St Edward's at the beginning of the season. Since then the team have grown in confidence and with the help from Annie Dancey, Maddie Bifulco and Charley Mae Saunders working tightly as the intergral triangle and the strong hit of Bella Williamson they have gone on to win numerous games. A few which stand out were against Rendcomb College and St Peter's which were very nail biting affairs and a massive win over St John's. I would like to congratulate the whole team for winning the U12 District Tournament which they deserved to win after displaying an excellent game of rounder's in the final against Seven Vale winning 8 - 5. Well done girls!

Most Improved Player: Charley-Mae Saunders

Girls Cricket

Girl's cricket has continued to flourish this year with an encouraging number of 3rd and 4th form girls participating during their activities lesson, learning the basic skills of bowling and batting. The school has competed in two matches against Cheltenham College, the 2nd match which Kings lost by only 13 runs, shows the development made by the team especially with such a young and inexperienced squad. Congratulations to everyone involved in the matches and it is hoped that girl's cricket will continue to develop over the next few years.
