House Drama Report 2009

House Drama is one of the events in the year which many people look forward to. Laud always put their best foot forward and this year was no exception. Laud House drama was full of team spirit and good cheer. A Beautiful Day for a Duel was our junior play, and yes it was a beauty! With Kathryn Frewin, Emily Summers, Alex Hewitt, Adam Grime, Oscar Gee and Milly Maltby, there was no way in which Laud could falter. It was a grand and energetic performance, which many thoroughly enjoyed. The next performance was the junior poem; Warning by Jenny Joseph. Lauren Kelly and Rosie Jones, despite making a minor fault, they covered it well, and it went on to become a fascinating performance. Ciaran Walshe read an extract from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which was emotional and poignant. To carry on the achievement, Silas Barke astounded the audience with a spell binding performance of one of Caliban’s speeches from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. We may not have won, but we certainly did our best, coming second. The day was an enjoyable experience and a good chance for junior members of Laud House to work with the senior members of Atlanta di Tomaso, Silas Barke and Ciaran Walshe who were all involved in the organization of the event.
