Welcome

The King's School, Gloucester is one of the seven famous Cathedral Schools established by Henry VIII in 1541. Whilst initially a Choir School, it has grown considerably over the years into the leading co-educational independent school in the area, with around five hundred pupils, aged three to eighteen.

The Cathedral choristers continue to form an important part of our school community. You still have to be a boy to be a chorister, but we have been welcoming girls into the school for almost 30 years.

The two years our pupils spend in the Sixth Form are vitally important. Their academic achievements will determine their options for higher education and what lies beyond; the many activities and opportunities for leadership and responsibility they receive will broaden their horizons; the friendships they form, both with teachers and with each other, will establish aims and values for a lifetime.

Our aim is to create a culture of enrichment, a stimulating and exciting environment within which each and every member of our community can realise their potential.

When you visit, we are confident that you will experience the warm and genuine rapport that exists between our staff and pupils and that you will fully appreciate what we can offer our students at this crucial stage of their lives.
