Art and Textiles Workshop

On Sunday, 4th October, the Art Department arranged an all-morning workshop with Angie Hughs, a local textiles artist.  It was great.  The morning began with a short demonstration by Angie, who made it look so easy with her fabulous designs, before everyone eagerly experimented with all that was on offer.  The workshop was focused on the art of Indian woodblock printing, but with a twist.  We were able to print beautiful patterns by heating up a specific type of foam and making an impression on it with an object.  It could literally be anything; buttons, jewellery, rubbers and shells were just a few items we used.  Everyone tried something different and new, and at the end of the workshop we were all able to take away our very own handprinted fabric and the knowledge of a new technique.
