Catherine Herring - Stage School Teacher
Being the middle child of a large family, I grew up competing for attention. My Dad, partly out of his supportive nature, partly for a quiet life, realised this and enrolled me into a local theatre group. I was ravaged by the theatrical bug.
At university, I realised that there were a number of plays out there that no one was doing, so I decided to set up a theatre group, Sidetrack, and produce the plays that I really liked. Deciding that directing and producing were a pretty good way to spend my time, I started offering workshops to students who were interested in drama, and Sidetrack became a company.
Since then, I have established a number of drama classes and taught in various schools across Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol (and France!). I also write plays, run holiday courses and specialist workshops in the hope that I can help students realise that with a little effort and self-belief, they can achieve great things.
