Kings School Parents Association

Putting the Fun into Fundraising!

It is nearly the start of a new academic year and a chance to reflect on all the KSPA achieved last year.

(Please look at our website for more information)

Friday 23 September - Ladies Night a very girly evening of pampering, shopping, drinking fizz and eating crisps and dip. What a HUGE success! We raised £700 and everyone who attended want this to be an annual event. Thank you to all the therapists and stall holders who made this evening so great!

Sunday 26 November - The Christmas Fayre has become a standard feature in the King's School calendar and Anniversary was once more buzzing with festive spirit as over 40 stalls sold their wares. Another social and financial success as we raised £1200 - the raffle being particularly successful this year. Thank you to everyone who donated items and attended the event.

Monday 6 February - Valentine's Dance Another evening of fun and frivolity and a chance to wine and dine your loved one for only £30 a head - a bargain and one which raised £2500 for the school in the process!! A great night was had by all who attended.

Friday 21 April - Wine Tasting This was an expanded version of previous wine tastings - this time in the Parliament rooms to make room for more wine buffs. As ever HM regaled us with fascinating facts about the wines we were drinking!

Saturday 13 May - May Fayre The theme this year was a Victorian traditional May Fayre in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel - needlesstosay there were steam engine and bridge building opportunities galore - and we raised £1500!

Saturday 10 June - Family BBQ As last year - a great night of rounders was had by all with a bar and bbq as an added extra. This, like the wine tasting, was a non profit making evening just for fun.

The KSPA tries to spread its funding across the whole school so that every area of the school benefits. Last year we received requests for funding of items worth £14000. Out of all these worthy requests, we chose to offer funds to the following:

  1. Duke of Edinburgh - Memory map - £72.90
  2. Maths dept - projector - £900
  3. Estates and Grounds - Cricket/rugby scoreboard - £1000
  4. Wardle - Playhouse - £185
  5. PE dept - bowling machine - £2247 (less £1000 PE budget)
  6. Junior School - shelving for library - £486.90
  7. Art dept - clay extruder - £205.63
  8. Junior School - library shelving - £100
  9. Senior School - library cd equipment - £750
  10. Junior School - white board resources - £300

Already we have some events planned for the new academic year. Please put the following dates in your diary NOW:

Wednesday 27 September - KSPA AGM, 7pm A chance to hear what the committee have been up to last year and what is planned for the current year - plus a glass of wine!

Friday 29 September - Ladies Night After the success of our last Ladies Night we will follow the same format this year - 7.30pm at a cost of £5 per person (£6 if you pay on the night) all ladies can have a glass of fizz, some retail therapy and a taster session with a pampering therapist of your choice - what more could a girl want!
