May FayreSaturday 13th May 2006 Despite a dreadful weather forecast for the day of the fayre, the day stayed dry and ensured a fun day for all who came to support this event. The Victorian theme was in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and we were able to offer steam train rides and bridge building opportunities galore! In addition to these were all the traditional May Fayre delights - May Pole dancing - a fine display by Mr Peak and Miss Linton! - organised by Mrs Hadfield and Mrs Woodliffe, a coconut shy expertly built by Mr Collins and Mr Gough in the DT department, giant skittles and an enormous bouncy castle. In the school hall were all the usual opportunities for both adults and children alike to spend lots and lots of money - stalls selling toys, cakes, plants and jewellery plus a lucky dip and very professional face painting. The cafe served cream teas and plenty of cakes and biscuits whilst outside Paul Markey and Mark Ford did a sterling job manning the bbq. As the weather did indeed decide to be kind, we moved the bar outside by the bbq and many a happy hour was spent by all who converged there to enjoy the sunshine! |
