Mission Statement

The History and Politics Department – “Using the past to understand the present and build the future”.

History is vital – without it we can have no understanding of who we are, where we come from or how the world works. Without some understanding of politics, we cannot understand how to influence our future.

At The King’s School, we aim to help pupils develop these insights through a wide range of teaching methods and the study of different periods, and in doing so to acquire the analytical and linguistic skills which they will need in any walk of life. By the time they leave the History and Politics Department, our students should be concerned citizens capable of thinking intelligently about the society and culture which they inhabit. We aim to help all our students achieve their full potential through personalised learning and to encourage them to engage in independent thinking and work
