At five, children start Key Stage 1 in the Junior School.

Classes seldom exceed 16 pupils so each child receives individual attention from inspirational teachers and a team of teaching assistants.

Enlightened teaching across a wide curriculum inspires children of all ages and abilities. Throughout the years of Junior School and Key Stage three, pupils study a large range of subjects, encouraging them to experiment, to try things out, to establish which curriculum areas suit them best so that, when the time comes to specialise, decisions can be made on the basis of real experience. As a result, the pupils enjoy learning and take pride in their work and displays.

A high proportion of our pupils have achieved the Grammar School entrance level in each of the past ten years and high standards are demanded in all subjects. The Gifted and Talented Programme ensures that the more able pupils are suitably challenged and Learning Support is also provided for the benefit of those who need it.

At 11, our students are ready for the move into Senior School and then Sixth Form.
