There are plenty of extra-curricular activities to choose from, and pupils can discover talents they never dreamed of. King's currently caters for sport, dance, all kinds of music, drama, sculpture and fine art.
Team spirit is not only a requirement on the sports field: drama is the ultimate team game. Education is all about gaining self-confidence, and there are few ways better than standing on stage to develop that key quality in life. Above all, drama at King's allows pupils to express themselves and identify imaginatively with other people and different situations. Best of all, it is always great fun.
Performing arts such as dance and drama promote a sense of confidence, self-reliance, co-ordination and poise. They also provide great enjoyment and pride in achievement.
Pupils are encouraged to try their hand at writing and direction as well as performing. Working together in this way leads to a very high standard of school productions.
Art and design plays an important role in educating the individual at King's. It is a field of communication equal to that of language and mathematics and it impinges upon every aspect of our daily lives. We believe regardless of a pupil's ability, it is essential that they have the opportunity to visually express themselves in a variety of media.
Fostering Creativity
At King's we seek to develop the creative potential in all our pupils. From their earliest days they are encouraged to participate in the expressive arts.
Music has always been a major part of life at King's and, quite apart from the choral tradition associated with the Cathedral, the school offers a broad choice of musical activities for pupils at all levels.
In the Summer holidays 2002, an intrepid group of sixth formers and teachers set off for the adventure of a lifetime in Ecuador. Some of their experiences are recorded here:

Day 5: The Pinan Lakes Trek - part one...
The day started in a field where the locals play football and generally mess around. We got out of our tents after a decent night's sleep to see glorious sunshine once again. Being a spot popular with the locals there were a lot of children watching avidly as we packed our tents away and got ready for the day. For breakfast, we had porridge with jam or chocolate powder - it tasted delicious considering what we had last night!

Day 12: La Esperanza, the climbing of Imbabura
The day we had all been dreading - the day we hiked up Imbabura!
The ascent was slow, but it saved us valuable energy. The volcano was covered in thick cloud and as we gained height, we began to put on layers of waterproofs and additional clothing as it got colder and colder. In total it took about four and a half-hours to reach the peak, battling through gusting wind, rain and the endless war against the usual gastronomical challenges.

Day 18 Mindo/El Monte, part four...
The morning began for some at 6.30am as the brave few sampled the dawn chorus that was resonating from the forest around us. Within the hour, the rest of the team arose from a long sleep (about nine to ten hours!) in a highly expectant mood as baked beans were on the menu!

Day 24: The Rainforest, part four....
We started our trek to the Indian village at 10.00am. We had canoes - flat bottomed and dug out of a single tree - to transport ourselves across the river. We began trekking in the extreme heat and humidity. We ate fruit, sweet lemons and drank water from the stem of a tree vine.
