Wardle House

Education should be fun, and at King's we create an opportunity for the very youngest children to set out with purpose on this great adventure.

Wardle House provides an early learning experience which is challenging and fun for young children. We have created a bright, happy and productive environment in which children can develop both socially and academically.

We believe that a good Nursery education lays the foundations for everything which follows. Toddlers soak up new experiences and information at remarkable speed, and they need a secure and stable environment in which they can develop and grow. King's offers a structured curriculum, designed to balance their need for adventure and play with enjoyable learning activities.

The Nursery

Starting at age three, the nursery class offers an opportunity to socialise and develop relationships during play-centred activities. The children are introduced to ideas and concepts that are required to progress in numeracy; they are also introduced to literature via several pre-reading schemes.

We celebrate the individuality of our pupils, and aim to recognise and develop individual strengths, and to identify and address weaknesses as early as we can in their school lives.

The Reception Class

In Reception pupils will continue to build on this strong foundation and develop their phonic skills using a variety of approaches. Schemes linked to the National Curriculum are used in numeracy and at this stage we introduce the humanities and science through topic work.

Creativity

Art, Design Technology, PE and Music and Movement are all timetabled within the week and each child is encouraged to develop individually within the less structured topics.

"King's is a wonderful school that educates each child as an individual but also reinforces a very strong whole school identity.

My children have not only been given a great academic start in education but their eyes have already been opened to the wonders of dance and drama, music and sport. As a parent this is evident every term in one way or another - be it the Christmas nativity play, the school dance show or summer sports day.

At each function I have attended to see my children in action, the commitment the staff show in bringing out the best in every child is obvious. It is also very evident that the whole school - pupils, staff and the Headmaster are all working together to make it happen. They should be justly proud of their achievements"
