All pupils in King's Junior are encouraged to participate in a varied sporting programme. They are introduced to swimming and athletics in the Transition Form (Year 2) with timetabled games lessons. The major team games are rugby, hockey and cricket for the boys and hockey, netball and rounders for the girls.
Music and drama are an integral part of life at King's Junior. Choirs and musical ensembles give regular concerts and recitals throughout the year. Theatrical productions are actively supported not only by budding actors but also by the musicians, set designers and technicians. At least one dramatic production each year will have every child taking an acting role, however small.
Each form will regularly perform small plays during assemblies in the Chapter House.
The confidence gained by every child is immeasurable.
Every child in King's Junior has access to our full range of facilities. A typical day could move from assembly in the 11th Century Chapter House, to the very latest in 21st Century technology in our brand new ICT Centre.
After-School activities and clubs are increasing in popularity. From First Aid to Karate to Chess to Puppet Making, there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
History and Geography field trips together with outings to museums and theatrical productions are arranged on a termly basis. An annual rounders and rugby tour is organised for pupils in Shell Forms, (Years 5 and 6), introducing residential trips away from home and school.
