11-16 Years
A broad range of subjects are studied in the early years of Senior School, followed by a programme tailored to meet the individual student. Small classes taught by specialist teachers enable pupils of all abilities to participate actively in engaging lessons.
Enrichment activities provide extra stimulus for our more academic pupils, whilst Learning Support for those who require it forms an integral part of the King's timetable. We have high expectations of each individual based on their potential, whilst progress is tracked against regular assessments. Cross-curricular project work, group discussion, practical activities and an emphasis on open-ended independent learning are embedded throughout the curriculum.
On a purely academic level, the progression from Junior to Senior School marks the beginning of the five year preparation for GCSEs as set out in the National Curriculum. However, at King's, we provide much more.
Our pupils are offered a wide range of cross-curricular opportunities as well as 'extras' such as a second foreign language and both Latin and Greek. We believe that this broader experience, coupled with support from their teachers, helps our pupils to make informed decisions about their GCSE options.
