Sports

Sport has a high profile within the School and we are proud of the pupil's achievements whether it is representing their Country, Division, County, School or House.  Over 75% of the pupils regularly participate in school teams but all our students are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential in a wide variety of sports.

The School has good links with the community and we are delighted to be one of a small number of Independent Schools to be part of the Schools Sports Partnership Scheme.  In September 2007 the School was recognised for its delivery of high quality Physical Education and Games as it received the prestigious 'Sportsmark Award'.

The Physical Education Department aims to provide an enjoyable and challenging programme.  The curriculum offers a comprehensive range of activities to meet the needs of the individual and to encourage the development of confidence, desirable standards of behaviour and social skills.  The Department also aims to promote interaction, cooperation and an appreciation of one's own and other's strengths and weaknesses.

Whether in PE lessons, socially or in lunchtime activity groups pupils can be involved in a variety of different sports. Some are specific to gender while others are only availalbe to older age groups.

Policy Statement

The aim of Physical Education at King's School is to instill in each pupil a positive and lasting interest in Physical activity in terms of its contribution to health and to the enjoyment of sport at competitive and social levels.  It is hoped that each student will leave King's confident that he/she can enter a Sports Club knowing how to conduct him/herself both on and off the field in a way which will see that they are valued as a member of the establishment.

The activities studied at King's are those which offer the best opportunities for success to the greatest number of pupils, they are also compatible with the traditions of the School and the facilities available.
