Work on the new £2m sport hall is moving on apace with completion due in August 2012.
This significant construction project on the King's School's Archdeacon Meadow playing fields heralds a bright future for Gloucestershire's most historic school which dates back to the 16th century.
In a school where a rich menu of extra-curricular activities is at the core of what goes on, the fact that the new Hall will offer additional facilities for indoor cricket, basketball, badminton, tennis, trampolining and much else besides is a self-defining moment in the School's recent evolution. Above all, King's is about providing opportunities to develop new skills and discover new passions, and although the school already has a fantastic record in producing international competitors in a range of sports, its new Sports Hall is bound to bring further laurels.
With the team from local construction company, Carter and Company, now very much on site, progress on our long-awaited Sports Hall development is well underway with completion due in August 2012. Regular site meetings between Carters and the School will ensure that we are able to track the main developments during the build, enabling us to give you frequent updates.
In spite of the ominous looking machinery and growing piles of earth, please also be assured that our rugby programme is not being affected. With vital fixtures to come against Pates, Rendcomb and other schools, as listed on the Calendar, please note that Archdeacon Meadow is, as ever, open for business!
