16-18 Years
We appreciate that the step up from the Fifth Form into the Sixth Form can be quite nerve-wracking, as well as exciting. To help facilitate this successfully, we supplement the strong support and care offered by the Sixth Form Tutors with an Induction Program, which is regularly reviewed and revised to suit the individual year group coming through.
Following their GCSE examinations, the Fifth Form pupils come into Dulverton to live as Sixth Formers for three days. They attend lessons, take part in Year Group bonding exercises, and learn more about Sixth Form activities, Work Experience and Community Service. The highlight of the program is hosting our own version of Question Time, with a panel of eminent speakers coming in to react to questions from the floor.
In September of the Lower Sixth we go to Snowdonia for a long weekend on a Leadership Challenge Course. Here we work together camping, canoeing, hiking, climbing, gorge walking and coasteering, amongst other activities. A couple of weeks later the Upper and Lower Sixth Formers, together with their Tutors, go out for a formal dinner with inspiring and entertaining speeches from current and past pupils. Sixth Formers regularly comment on the close relationships they forge during their time here, and the Induction period really helps to kick-start these friendships.
