King’s A Level Results Exceed National Expectations

This year's A Level results from students at the King’s School defied national expectations and continued the upward trend of academic achievement at King’s.

Over 25% of the results were at A*/A and over 59% of all grades were A*-B, with a 100% pass rate. In BTEC Sport, all students achieved Distinction or starred Distinction in every part of the course, which equates to all A/A* grades at A Level. 

The students have worked hard to achieve such positive results which are particularly impressive as these were their first-ever certificated exams. 

The Headmaster, Mr David Morton, commented, “Our students have worked tirelessly in an ever-shifting educational landscape to achieve results of which they can be incredibly proud. And whilst it is important to recognise our students’ academic success, we also need to reflect on how these students have developed their broader life skills, not least resilience and independence, as a result of lockdown learning. They should be very proud of all that they have achieved: they leave school as kind, talented, well-rounded citizens who have bright futures ahead of them.” 

Next steps for the students include reading Exercise and Sports Science at Exeter, Geography at Loughborough, Music at Southampton and Biological Sciences at Warwick University.  One pupil has gained a highly competitive IBM internship in New York and one student has just finished filming a lead role in a TV series in Belgium.

We celebrate students choosing many other paths with some of our strongest all-rounders going into the armed forces (Army and Navy), the Police Force, apprenticeships in Finance and Computer Science and one who has gained a place at a highly competitive national Dance Studio.
