Musician MatildaOver the course of the year Matilda passed her Grade 8 piano with Distinction and Grade 8 Saxophone with Merit under the guidance of piano teacher, Miss Honeywill and saxophone teacher, Miss Beddoe.  Matilda recently gave a stunning performance of Debussy's Claire de Lune in our piano recital evening and she is also a member of the King's Swing Band. Both her teachers are extremely thrilled with her double achievement.  Matilda hopes to go on to study midwifery.

Ed has recently been awarded two Grade 8 certificates having sat the exams on the very same day only one hour apart!  Ed, passed his Grade 8 Percussion gaining a Merit and also Grade 8 Singing with Distinction. Both his teachers, Mr Sam Gerard (percussion) and Mr Field (singing) were delighted with the result. Ed has played regularly for GYWO, GYO and as a guest for many local adult amateur orchestras. He sings in the Cathedral Youth Choir and is working towards his ARSM Singing diploma later this term.

"Grade 8 is the highest level at which pupils are examined before entering higher education. Passing Grade 8 is no mean feat, but to pass two  requires a huge amount of dedication and musicianship, and I am absolutely delighted with both Matilda's and Ed's achievements. I hope they both continue to enjoy making music as they embark on university courses!" Mr John Pennington, Director of Music
