Welcome to Little King's

Welcome to Little King's

Dear Parent,

Here at Little King's we start the journey for your little ones from the age of three to five. These first years are very important in building the foundations for your child's future. Our caring and experienced staff will make sure that your child has the very best start possible.

Children come to school with a wealth of learning, which has been acquired during the first three years at home. We aim to build on these foundations, through the provision of a curriculum which is stimulating, structured and balanced; which engages the child physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally; and which develops the child’s skills, concepts and attitudes.

As a result of our very individual curriculum we produce happy, confident and resilient children who are independent, ready and eager to learn because they have had the very best start.

If you would like more information, arrange a personal tour, or bring your child in for a Taster Session, please complete the enquiry form HERE and we will contact you.

We look forward to getting to know you.

We encourage children to learn through discovery, creating structured experiences and fun activities that tap in to their natural fascination...

Meet our staff...

Sarah Beard - Head of Little King's
Mrs Berry
I am an experienced early years practitioner who enjoys the flexibility the Foundation Stage has to offer. I love to follow the Children's interests and plan exciting topics around this. I have a big passion for phonics and early reading skills along with the many benefits of outdoor learning. Outside of school I love to walk my dog Piper and spend time with my family.
Helen McVittie - Reception Teacher
Mrs BerryHi, Mrs McVittie here! I am a Reception teacher.  I love teaching the ‘littlies’ as they are so honest, funny and have an amazing perspective on the world.  I am married and have two children of my own, who are both choristers in the Cathedral. I love spending time in the cathedral and think it is amazing that it is part of our school!  My other love is music in all its forms but singing is my favourite thing to do. I have a song for most things and love singing in the car with my family! I am in Gloucester Choral Society and sing in concerts with big orchestras, which is exhilarating.  When I lived in London I sang in the Royal Albert Hall, the Festival Hall and the Barbican but the coolest gig I did was singing in a Lee Evans show in Wembley Arena – that is certainly the biggest audience I have performed to! I also have a cat called Magnificat and as my name suggests I love biscuits (with coffee)……
Georgina Southgate - Reception Teacher
Mrs Berry

I am an experienced and innovative Early Years Reception teacher with a passion for making learning fun. I love the great outdoors and embrace the learning opportunities ‘Forest School’ and outdoor learning have to offer. I thoroughly enjoy teaching the youngest children and watching them grow in confidence and self belief as they learn new skills and lay the foundations for future success. Outside of school I enjoy walks in the forest and making memories with family and friends.

“I like Mrs Southgate, she wears red necklaces.”

“Mrs Southgate helps me write.”

“She lets us climb trees and jump in muddy puddles.”

Louise Cousins - Little King's Assistant
Louise CousinsI am an experienced Nursery Nurse with a vast amount of experience in different age groups. I have worked all around the world in different settings. I love to watch children develop within the early year's setting and preparing them for their journey through King's School. I enjoy making the classroom a stimulating and colourful environment for the children to explore. I also enjoy going to the gym and keeping fit.
Sarah Jelf - Little King's Assistant
Mrs Berry

Hi I’m Mrs Jelf, the Reception Class Teaching Assistant. As a former pupil I feel very lucky to have returned when the school opened the Early years department. I have really enjoyed supporting the children over many years and watching them develop as they move on through the school. My particular passion is art and enabling children to express and experience creativity on so many levels. I am married with two boys, whom both attend the Senior School. I love spending time at home with my family and going for walks together.

“I like Mrs Jelf because she does junk modelling and has curly hair.” “ Mrs Jelf helps us make things.”

Georgia Baldwin - Little King's Assistant
Mrs Berry

Hi, I am Georgia and I work in Reception with the Puddle Ducks class as a Teaching Assistant. I am currently working towards the Early Year  Level 3 Diploma as I have a passion for teaching and love working with young people and watching them learn and grow. An interesting fact about me is that I am an identical twin. When I'm not at work I like to relax with friends and family.

Emily Perry - Little King's Assistant
Louise CousinsHello! I am Emily and I work in Little King's and I also help with the holiday club. Working within Little King's and getting to meet so many characters at the start of their journey in to education is such a joy to me. When I'm not at work I am usually chasing around after my toddler or going for long walks in the countryside with my Labrador, Freddie. I love to watch movies and go to the cinema and there is nothing I enjoy more than getting cosy in front of the fire with a hot chocolate and a 'chick flick'.
