Serlo unanimously decided to support the Acorn’s Children Hospice this year. This amazing charity was nominated by the whole of Serlo’s members.

The Acorn’s children hospice was founded in 1988 by Peter Wildblood who died aged 91 on the 27th of September 2019. The first Acorn’s hospice was opened by Princess Diane.

Acorns provide a holistic service which meets the needs of both the children and their families, including the bereaved. This includes short break provision; emergency and end of life care; therapeutic and psychosocial support; sibling services and family support. In the past year, the Acorn’s charity has supported 787 children and 1,223 family members across the organisation, including those who have lost an important person close to their heart. Acorn’s hospice has got a great line up of events to raise money for the children at the hospice. These consist skydiving, charity match day, Birmingham half marathon, Birmingham triathlon, fun runs and the vélo 2020.
