We are delighted to say that our winter fundraising for Dornakal went very well with many students coming to have hot chocolate, cakes and cookies on Friday 7th January and we made just over £200.

We would like to thank everyone involved including Ian in the kitchen, Nell in Dulverton for making the hot chocolate and all who generously donated cakes and cookies. The Sixth Form volunteers were fantastic.  We would also like to thank all the Upper Sixth Form students who have supported Dornakal in so many ways over the last 4 years.

Junior School have also been fundraising with weekly hot chocolate, run by Mrs Julie Johnson and her team; they also have raised over £260 and I’d also like to thank Joe for his donations from the candy canes.

We had our weekly Zoom call with Mr Shyam Kiran who told us that the schools in Telangana state are still closed for the holidays – extended now until the 31st January while Covid cases surge.  Restrictions and a nightly curfew are in place.  The schools will extend their term until May; usually they close for the academic year at the end of March. The new academic year will start in June. It is a difficult time for the school to find that it is closed again after opening up only in October.

Thank you to all our pupils who created Christmas cards. All the Christmas cards have now arrived and most have been distributed to the pupils.  The pupils will send replies once they return at the end of January and they were all delighted to receive the cards.

On behalf of the Dornakal School, Mr Shyam Kiran thanked the King’s Community for all their kindness and support.

Mrs Penny Fayter
